Such devices filter water by means of a membrane, using pressure to pull out chemicals and microbes. Though this system uses lots of water, they eliminate all the chemicals as well as microbes that cause diseases. This makes it a very effective purification method.
Systems such as this include a replaceable filter (good for 3 months) that captures chemicals plus other contaminants. First, the pitcher is filled with water from the tap then this flows out through the filter. This affordable, simple-to-use system can improve the taste of tap water.
Water Filter Options
Those who are not ready to install a purification system can choose other ways to address some if not all their drinking water issues even if they do not have a filter.
- When turning on the water after a couple of hours, they should let the cold water run for several minutes to flush other lead presents.
- Then they need to boil the water for 1 to 3 minutes, cool the water then place it in a clean pitcher before putting it inside the refrigerator. This way, microbes such as cryptosporidium will be eliminated.
- They can also put tap water inside a pitcher or other container then refrigerate it to help improve the taste of water that has too much chlorine.
When water safety is a concern, people can take the necessary steps to improve the quality of water in a home so that they will feel at ease knowing that the water is safe to consume.
The moment they determine the issues that need to be solved, they can decide on the system that best suits them to improve their water quality.
